This is fantastic. While porn itself isn’t the source of the problem, as with anything else, if it’s not dismantling the harmful shit then it’s complicit in supporting and perpetuating it.
Is there any analysis of this that takes things like race, poverty, trans, neurodivergence, and disabilities into consideration, outside of the #cuilverse?
I watch porn. I enjoy it. I’d love to be in it. I’m also a victim and a survivor of horrific abuses and a minority of marginalized identities. That’s going to alter what I need, what I have access to, and how people approach me if their only exposure is through bullshit media, porn or otherwise.
In general, with all media and entrainment, we need to support accuracy, health, and most importantly consent!
Context fucking matters and I’m tired of people pretending like these aspects of culture and society don’t affect one another.
I got tired of seeing no one do better and just sitting around arguing whether or not this caused this. So I created my own genre, where nothing is taken for granted, everything is written in context, and fantasy isn’t used as an excuse to overlook harmful shit. Obviously there may still be some potentially triggering things present in the #cuilverse, but the difference is that I don’t leave anyone hanging and dealing with it alone.
I’ve seen the survivor porn site you mentioned. It’s a great start but is not kink-friendly, nor does it provide an option for reclaiming rough, consensual sex and sensuality. I hope that changes, but I’m not holding my breath.
