Romance - often rooted in some combo of fantasy, amatonormativity, and attraction; usually bound up with particular genders one is attracted to. Romance can and does happen free of romance supremacy, but it's rare.

Aromance - rooted in affection, compatibility, and/or trust rather than attraction or fantastical elements; genders one may or may not be attracted to does not tend to factor in. Can still be impacted by pervasive amatonormative concerns.
